Secondary amenorrhea is defined as the absence of menstrual flow in women with previously normal menstruation. The most common etiologies are pregnancy and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). An initial secondary amenorrhea workup includes thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), prolactin, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and luteinizing hormone (LH) tests.
