Ordering Recommendation

Use to assess and monitor dermatitis herpetiformis. Testing should be correlated with concurrent Direct Immunofluorescence, Tissue Biopsy (Cutaneous, Mucosal, Epithelial) (0092572). Because most patients with dermatitis herpetiformis have associated celiac disease, testing should be performed in conjunction with Celiac Disease Reflexive Cascade, Serum (3016817).

For initial diagnosis and assessment of disease progression/changes and to distinguish from other immunobullous diseases with epithelial antibodies, order concurrently with serum Immunobullous Disease Antibody Panel (3001409).

For more information about components, methodology, and specimen type, see the ARUP Immunobullous Disease Testing Comparison tool.
