Ordering Recommendation

Use to recognize eosinophil involvement/eosinophil-related inflammation with indirect immunofluorescence to detect cellular localization and extracellular deposition of the eosinophil granule core protein (major basic protein 1 [eMBP1]), and/or the eosinophil granule matrix protein (eosinophil-derived neurotoxin [EDN]) in tissues or organs with suspected eosinophil-driven pathophysiology.

For more information on specimen collection and diseases assessed, see the ARUP Immunobullous Disease Testing Comparison tool.

Note

Turnaround time may be prolonged on specimens submitted as formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue; clients should consider contacting the Immunodermatology Laboratory when submitting FFPE tissue for Eosinophil Granule Major Basic Protein, Tissue to discuss specific clinical information that may indicate expedited testing and resulting. Contact ARUP Client Services at 1-800-242-2787, option 2, and ask to speak with the Immunodermatology Laboratory at the University of Utah regarding patient results and/or testing information.
