This panel is not recommended. To diagnose acute HAV infection, refer to Hepatitis A Virus Antibody, IgM (0020093) or Hepatitis Panel, Acute with Reflex to HBsAg Confirmation and Reflex to HCV by Quantitative NAAT (3002989). To assess immunity, order Hepatitis A Virus Antibodies (Total) (0020591).

Specimen Required

Patient Preparation

Refer to individual components.

Collect

Serum separator tube. Also acceptable: Lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2EDTA).

Specimen Preparation

Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum or plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature

Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions

Specimens containing particulate material. Severely hemolyzed or lipemic specimens. Heat-inactivated specimens. Specimens collected in citrate-based anticoagulant.

Remarks
Stability

After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: Indefinitely (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)
