Ordering Recommendation

Useful in combination with Factor VIII, Activity (0030095) for the initial diagnosis of mild hemophilia A. May also be used to measure factor VIII activity in the presence of a lupus anticoagulant. Monitor certain extended half-life factor VIII replacement products and measure native factor VIII or factor VIII concentrates in patients on emicizumab (Hemlibra).

Collect

Specimen Preparation

Transfer 1 mL platelet-poor plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.8 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature

CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.

Unacceptable Conditions

Serum or EDTA plasma. Clotted or hemolyzed specimens.
