Growth hormone deficiency (GHD) is a rare disorder characterized by low secretion of growth hormone (GH) from the pituitary gland. In children, it is most commonly idiopathic and hypothalamic in origin, though it may also be caused by genetic variants, brain structural defects, and acquired causes. The initial workup for childhood-onset GHD (COGHD) includes static tests for growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and stimulation tests.
