Nephrolithiasis (kidney stones) accounts for significant morbidity and expense and is increasing in prevalence in the U.S. An initial workup typically begins with a point-of-care urinalysis to assess for hematuria or blood in the urine. Depending on the results, imaging, CBC, and/or stone analysis may be required.
