Growth Hormone Testing in Transition Patients Testing Algorithm

Growth hormone deficiency (GHD) is a rare disorder characterized by low secretion of growth hormone (GH) from the pituitary gland. Children diagnosed with GHD should be retested during the time between puberty and attainment of adult height and body composition. The workup for patients in this transition period includes static tests for growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and stimulation tests.
