Celiac disease (CD) is a nonallergic, immune-mediated sensitivity to gluten that leads to small intestinal damage and a range of gastrointestinal and extraintestinal symptoms. The testing algorithm for symptomatic individuals shown below applies to patients of all ages (including those younger than 2 years), as long as they are consuming a regular, gluten-containing diet.
