Immunobullous skin diseases are autoimmune blistering diseases that affect skin and mucous membranes and are caused by or associated with the deposition of specific antibodies on cutaneous structures. This group of skin diseases includes bullous lupus erythematosus, dermatitis herpetiformis, epidermolysis bullosa acquisita, linear IgA disease, pemphigoid, and pemphigus. An initial workup for the various immunobullous skin diseases includes a biopsy and relevant antibody testing.
